What we do
WATER QUALITY MONITORING
We design and implement robust monitoring programmes for surface water, groundwater, wastewater, and drinking water sources to detect contamination early and demonstrate compliance.
- Baseline and routine water sampling (rivers, dams, boreholes, effluents);
- Analysis of key parameters: pH, turbidity, heavy metals, nutrients, microbiological indicators (E. coli), chemical determinants per SANS 241;
- Groundwater monitoring for contamination plumes and aquifer health;
- Effluent and process water compliance testing;
- Real-time or scheduled monitoring with trend analysis and reporting; and
- Integration with EIAs, audits, and remediation plans.
DUST FALL-OUT AND PARTICULATE MONITORING
Proactive dust monitoring to control fugitive emissions from construction, mining, and industrial activities in line with updated National Dust Control Regulations.
- Dustfall monitoring using SANS 1137 methods (monthly bucket sampling);
- PM10, PM2.5, and Total Suspended Particulates (TSP) monitoring;
- Boundary and sensitive receptor monitoring (residential areas, schools, water bodies);
- Dust Management Plan (DMP) development and implementation;
- Source identification, toxicology, and mitigation recommendations; and
- Monthly/ quarterly compliance reports with graphical trends.
SOIL QUALITY MONITORING
We design and implement tailored monitoring programmes to assess baseline soil conditions, track changes over time, and ensure compliance with soil screening values, remediation standards, and WUL conditions.
- Baseline and routine soil sampling across sites (grid, targeted, or stratified approaches);
- Laboratory analysis of key parameters: pH, nutrients, heavy metals, hydrocarbons, organic contaminants, and Soil Screening Values;
- Contaminated land investigations and remediation monitoring;
- Agricultural and land capability soil assessments; and
- Long-term monitoring for EMPs, closure plans, and licence conditions.
