Vertic Tech provides end-to-end support for securing Environmental Authorisations (EAs) and Water Use Licences (WULs) essential for construction, mining, industrial, infrastructure, and development projects across South Africa. Our experienced team navigates the requirements of the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA) and the National Water Act (NWA) to streamline approvals, minimise delays, and ensure regulatory compliance from project inception through to implementation.
We coordinate integrated applications where possible, integrate specialist studies, facilitate public participation, and deliver high-quality documentation that supports positive decisions from the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) and the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS).
What we do
ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATIONS
We manage the full process for obtaining EAs for listed activities.
- Screening and determination of assessment pathway (Basic Assessment or Scoping & Environmental Impact Reporting);
- Compilation of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports and Basic Assessment (BA) Reports;
- Specialist studies coordination (biodiversity, heritage, geotechnical, soil, water, air quality, etc.);
- Public participation processes and stakeholder engagement;
- Application submission, authority liaison, and response to comments;
- Amendment, suspension, or transfer of existing authorisations; and
- Integration with Environmental Management Programmes (EMPrs).
WATER USE LICENSES AND GENERAL AUTHORISATIONS
Expert assistance with Integrated Water Use Licence Applications for Section 21 water uses.
- Pre-application consultations via e-WULAAS and DWS engagement;
- Technical report compilation, including Integrated Water and Waste Management Plans (IWWMPs);
- Water resource impact assessments, groundwater and surface water studies;
- General authorisation applications;
- Public participation and comment response;
- Application submission, processing support, and follow-up with Regional Offices or Catchment Management Agencies; and
- Amendments, renewals, and compliance statements.
